Police-organised community event on the Isle of Wight. |

Hi Resident
If you find this information helpful, please βrateβ this message at the bottom (very quick and simple).
In 2021, I launched what was the first large-scale Police-led and Police-organised community event on the Isle of Wight. Following that inaugural event, and with support from A/PS Carey, we developed a framework and planning process so that others could continue and grow the concept in future years. Seeing that vision not only continue, but thrive, is something I am incredibly proud of. This year's Ryde Police Community Day was the biggest and most successful event yet πͺ While I am no longer on the Neighbourhood Policing Team, I have watched from afar as A/PS Carey has continued to develop and strengthen the event year after year. Most impressive of all, PC Katie Beeson has taken on the challenge of delivering this year's event and has quite simply surpassed all of our previous efforts. The scale, organisation, attendance and community impact of the day were exceptional. What many people don't see is the amount of work that goes into making an event like this happen. These events don't come together in a few weeks. They require almost a year of planning, coordination, partner engagement, problem solving and organisation, all whilst balancing the day-to-day demands of neighbourhood policing. Unlike many public events where policing is one small part of a larger attraction, this day is entirely Police-led. People come because they want to meet their local officers, speak to the police, see what we do and build relationships with the people who serve their community. That is a powerful opportunity and one that should never be underestimated. The feedback from the community speaks for itself. Some local resident's described the event as: "A huge congratulations to everyone involved in making this event such a success. It was colourful, welcoming, exceptionally well organised and a fantastic example of community policing at its very best." "One of the biggest successes of the day was seeing the police and partner agencies in such a relaxed, approachable setting. It helped build trust, strengthened community relationships and created some wonderful memories for families of all ages." "We only intended to stop by at 10am for a quick look before heading off within the hour... but our 8 and 9-year-old team members were having such a brilliant time that we ended up staying for the entire event!" Community policing is about building trust, visibility and relationships. Events like this bring that to life in a way that few other initiatives can. Congratulations to PC Katie Beeson, A/PS Carey and the entire East Wight NPT in delivering what was clearly the best Police Community Day yet π #NeighbourhoodPolicing #CommunityPolicing #PolicingWithPurpose #IsleOfWight #Ryde #TeamWork #CommunityEngagement #PoliceFamily #LetsTalk
